Hi guys! I recently discovered that today is the official day to celebrate the girls in our lives. How cute is that? I wanted to share a story about my daughter Hazel and her best friend from preschool.
Hazel started preschool back in July this year, just before turning three years old. It was one of the hardest things for me to adjust to as a first time mom. The idea of her not being with me all day and interacting with a group of new people made me scared and sad. I’ll talk about that in a different post 😉
Almost instantly, Hazel bonded with a sweet girl in her class named Charlotte.
As it turned out, the two of them had the same flip flops. Once Hazel realized this, she couldn’t stop talking about it. Their similar taste in footwear intrigued her and she eventually dubbed them “The Flip Flop Gang”
Since then, I’ve watched Hazel develop a pretty strong bond with this little lady. I can see how much they mean to each other, and it melts my heart. I think it’s amazing that something so simple, like having the same shoes can start a friendship 🙂
After becoming a mom, I found myself desperately searching for friendships with other moms. The need to not feel alone in motherhood is overwhelming! I am incredibly thankful to have found some pretty bad ass Mega Moms (and non moms) out here in LA that have my back and support me non stop. You know who you are. I don’t know what I’d do without you. Not to mention my incredible sister in law (and co-blogger) Jessica, who inspires me everyday. Thanks for being a part of my Girl Gang ladies, I appreciate and honor you today.
Does anyone have a friend who they’ve known since they were two or younger? I love hearing about lifelong friendships. Do you have a strong group of girl friends now? Was it hard to meet mom friends? Leave a comment and lets chat 🙂
Happy Girl Gang Appreciation Day!
lots of love
